RESOLUTION – 2011-03


RE: Resolution for the Creation of the Winchester Lakes Committee

WHEREAS the lakes in the Town of Winchester are an important natural resource used
by the public for recreation and enjoyment of the natural beauty; and

WHEREAS invasive exotic life forms are entering lakes and uplands throughout Vilas
County, resulting in the deterioration of the recreational value of the lakes and land plus reduction in the quality of fisheries; and

WHEREAS severe cases of invasive species infestations have the potential of reducing
property values in the general vicinity of infected lakes and uplands; and

WHEREAS the Winchester Town Board recognizes the importance of preserving lakes
and their watersheds;

NOW BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
A Winchester Lakes Committee shall be established as a standing committee of the
Board to assist town lakes organizations and citizens in the responsible and holistic
long-range management of town lakes and their watersheds. The committee will
participate in the Vilas County Aquatic and Terrestial Invasive Species Partnership.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:
The chairperson of the Winchester Lakes Committee shall be elected by the Winchester
Lakes Committee, and shall have responsibility for the committee similar to other
standing committees of this Board.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT:
The Winchester Lakes Committee shall consist of 1 voting member from each
participating lake organization, plus such other voting members deemed appropriate
by this board, with all voting members to be recognized and approved by this board.
