Minutes of the November 29, 2010 Special Town Meeting of the Electors
Chairman Sturgeon called the Special Town Meeting of the Electors to order at 7:53 PM.
Tom Ghiloni made the motion to approve the total highway expenditures of $461,662.72 for 2011 pursuant to Section 82.03(3) of Wisconsin Statutes. Phil Williams seconded and the motion carried. Hand vote: yes votes 15; no votes 1; abstained votes 2.
Jerry Ghiloni made the motion to approve the 2011 Town Tax Levy of $637,114.33 to be paid in 2011 pursuant to Section 60.10(1)(a) of Wisconsin Statutes. Rick Clem seconded and the motion carried. Hand vote: yes votes 21; no votes 0; abstained votes 0.
Rob Schmidt, Jr. made the motion to approve the wage adjustments for elected officials, Clerk and Treasurer. Jerry Ghiloni seconded and the motion did not carry. Hand vote: yes votes 7; no votes 8; abstained votes 5.
Sulo Wainio made a motion to approve the five elected officials maintain the wages of the 2010 budgeted amounts. Mark Schuelke seconded the motion.
Discussion held regarding the wages. Rick Clem stated he thought a moderate raise would be acceptable for the clerk and treasurer. Marjean Schuelke agreed a reasonable raise is in order.
Hand vote for the above motion: yes vote 2; no vote 17; abstained vote 1. The above motion did not carry.
Marjean Schuelke made a motion that the Clerk and Treasurer receive a 4% increase to match with the library. Judy Haberman seconded.
Discussion held Joan Wainio stated if the Clerk and Treasurer receive an increase, the Supervisors and Chairman should also be increased by the same percentage and forget about this driving around stuff. Rick Clem stated the librarian and Ginger received raises every year, he suggested the Clerk and Treasurer should receive a 7-8% raise. Several electors did not agree. Tom Ghiloni made a motion to call the discussion. Jerry Ghiloni seconded the motion. Hand vote: yes votes 17; no votes 0, abstained votes 0. The motion to call the discussion carried.
Hand vote for the motion made by Marjean Schuelke: yes votes 12; no votes 5; abstained 5. The motion that the Clerk and Treasurer receive a 4% increase carried.
Rob Schmidt, Jr. made a motion to adjourn. Jerry Ghiloni seconded and the motion carried. Hand vote: yes votes 21; no votes 0; abstained votes 0. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 PM.
