April 22, 2010
Present: Mark Schuelke, Rolf Ethun, Bill Hines, Don Madden, Cheryl Bowen

Ethun called meeting to order at 9:08AM

Financial Report ...Ruth on vacation...no report
$1000 available to WTLC with $700 designated for AIS abatement.
Town Liaison: Osfar not in attendance, no report given to Ethun
Vilas Co. Invasive Species Coordinator: Ted, not in attendance
Trees for Tomorrow is holding a Private Land Owner Workshop for invasive terrestrials
on May 1st. Call TFT w/your reservation
Ted sends e-mails regularly
$321,960 has been granted to Vilas Co for AIS
Old Business:
Rolf summarized Smart Growth Plan.
Jan Scalpone will be our liaison.
Harris Lake Curley Pond Weed Report: Bill Hines
Complete survey was done by Onterra. Infestation appears to be localized. Largest
infestation is 2 acres is on NW side of Harris Lake.
DNR and Onterra will be making a decision if it will be treated this spring or not. Must
spray while turrians are still on the plant in May.
Turrians are the problem.
After bloom they can fall to bottom of lake and can germinate the following year.
Grant money will be available until 2011
Little St Germain Lake will be starting soon with treatment for curley pond weed. Bad
infestation.
Big Sand, by Phelps has a massive infestation. They obtained a grant of $51,000.
! Lake Signage:
Ted sent out copies of the signage that the DNR is developing for the new reverse
signage for boat launches. 1000 new signs will be available for 2010. AIS coordinator
will determine which boat landings will get them first. Harris will get one. Biggest
concern is from visitors that are not aware of AIS.

Arlene Kellett will be in charge. Bowen has the materials stored.

WTLC Shoreline Restoration Workshop: July 22
Start at 10:30 in Town Hall
Carolyn Scholl, Vilas Co. Conservationist, will do the shoreline restoration presentation
followed by lunch of brats and burgers followed by road trips to Rossmillers home to
see their shoreline restoration project and perennial gardens. Next stop will be the
Discovery Center and finish at Rest Lake Park.
Bowen will do the publicity for the event.
Schuelke and Osfar will do the cooking.
Wisconsin Lake Convention
Ethun and Bowen gave a report.
Musky Classic : September 10 -12
Sandy Wickman is reviewing the form to check boats at the boat landings.
Other business:
Judy Meier has sent a resignation as alternate representative for Adelaide Lake due to
the recent death of her mother. The sympathies of all are extended to Judy and her
family, along with appreciation for her service. Madden suggests to send sympathy
card from the WTLC.
We are also in need of alternates for Harris and Rainbow Lakes, and primary and
alternate representatives for Birch Lake.
Need new members from several other akes. Budnik has volunteered to serve as an
alternate for Turtle Chain. He lives on Rock Lake. Bowen will ask Katy Felker about
being an alternate for Adelaide.
