WINCHESTER TOWN LAKES COMMITTEE MEETING 9/22/2011
Attendance: Budnik, Ethun, Heins, Kellett, Scalpone, Clem
Finance Report: $465.00 balance. Awaiting reimbursement from grant aprox. $8000 .
Rick Clem: There is a town ordinance from 1999 regarding water craft use between 10 A.M. -7
P.M.. Vilas County posted recommendations on Kiosks of 10A.M. -5 P.M. Rick learned at a
meeting that the state gives TRIG money to each county for road improvements. Vilas County
has 14 townships, every other year 6-7 townships split the money. Winchester has never been a
part of distribution and was not aware of fund. There is also TRIP money , 50/50 grant for road
improvement if town has money at end of year to apply. Usually doesn’t happen.
Lighting ordinance will be voted on Monday October 3,2011 at town board meeting.
Lake User Guide is being printed 75 letter size and 24 ledger size.
Harris Lake Kevin G. Said grant for 2012 will be finalized in October for 2012. Harris Lake
residents would like treatment ASAP when ice is out. Survey must be done first.
Purple loosestrife infestation at 10201-10203 cth W was looked at by Zach Wilson . His opinion
that is was small enough that could be pulled. Bill Heins offered to do that . Will await more
direction from Ted or Zach .
Crawfish on Turtle Chain: John McClure sent a sample of rusties to DNR and found evidence of
parasites.(Host is a snail) Parasites infect the rusty and supposedly native crawfish are more
immune. Notre Dame will have some information on this study in Spring.
Budget recommendations: Lakes Committee $1000
AIS reserve $15,000 Balance of $8700 from 2011 will go the
Donation $700.00 AIS reserve fund
If money is not used it will go into reserve fund .
If any money is spent in 2012 it will be taken from the donation so reserve fund can build up.
New alternate member from Rainbow Lake will be Nancy Johnson .
