The Transfer Site/Recyling Center is located on Highway W, next to the Municipal Building.

Town Of Winchester Recycling Guide
Plastics:
To know what type plastic a container is, look on package for the triangle with a number in it. If there is not a triangle with a number on it, it is not recyclable.
Type 1 Plastic:
Polyethylene terephthalate (PETE). Soft drink bottles, peanut butter containers, salad dressing containers. Remove caps and wash out.
Type 2 Plastic:
High Density Polyethylene. No color added: milk, water, and juice containers. Color added: detergent bottles, shampoo bottles. Remove caps and wash out.
Types 3 - 7 Plastic:
Cannot be recycled at the Winchester Transfer Site.
Any containers that contained oils (motor oil, cooking oil, etc)
cannot be recycled.
Cardboard:
Corrugated cardboard (with "fluted" liner) only. Cardboard must be kept dry. Flatten boxes and tie into bundles. Bundles must be less than 24" square.
Steel Cans:
Most food cans, including soups, vegetables and some beverage cans. Remove labels, wash out containers, remove tops and bottoms, and flatten.
Glass:
Separate into brown, green and clear glass. Remove lids and wash. Glass than cannot be recycled: window glass, glass dishes, light bulbs.
Magazines:
Glossy paper only. Bundle with twine. Any non-glossy papers in the magazine must be removed.
Newspaper:
Newspaper only; no glossy paper, stationary, envelopes or white paper. Bundle with twine or place into paper grocery bags. Newspaper must be kept dry.
Alunimun Cans:
Pop and beer cans. Rinse out and crush if possible. Place into plastic bags.
Lead-Acid Batteries:
Car batteries. Bring to transfer site.
Motor oil:
Pour oil into any suitable plastic containers with screw on lids and bring to transfer site.
Items that cannot be brought to the Winchester Transfer Site:
Appliances, furniture, window glass, construction debris, tires, antifreeze, gasoline, kerosene, pesticides, paint and paint cans, medical waste, and other hazardous waste.
Some, but not all, of these items may be taken to the County G Landfill.
Call the landfill at (715) 479-2938 for specific information.
Items that may be placed into Winchester garbage bags:
Food waste, non-recyclable papers, non-recyclable plastic, diapers, etc.
All non-recyclable garbage must be placed into Winchester garbage bags, which can be purchased at the transfer site, the Library, and at the Thirty Point Trading Post on Highway W in Winchester.

The outside dumpsters are for recyclables ONLY....No paper products or garbage.
RECYCLABLES: Plastics #1 - #7, Tin cans, Glass(any color), NO WINDOW GLASS, Aluminum cans.
Aluminum cans can also be put inside the building in the designated barrels for The Lions Club

Cardboard of any kind except heavily waxed or has food or oil on it.
Magazines, Newspapers,Egg cartons, Office paper, Paper bags ect.
Things that DO NOT go with paper products:
napkins, paper towel, toilet paper, Q-tips, dental floss, kleenex, candy wrappers, plastic of any sort,
Milk/Juice cartons, ice cream containers, go in the trash.
